Paula Francis and Gary Waddell of KLAS-TV will Co-Host this year’s Pinnacle Awards Ceremony

Paula Francis was born in Queens, N.Y., grew up in a Chicago suburb and had her first job in broadcasting in Madison, Wisconsin, right after finishing college at the UW-Madison. She has lived in Las Vegas since 1985 and is currently an anchor at KLAS-TV

Paula has been chosen "Best Newscaster" by the readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, and 2006. The other years, she was second only to Gary Waddell, her co-anchor.

She has received a number of humanitarian awards for her community involvement, especially her campaign for breast cancer awareness, Buddy Check 8. In 2005, the National Association of Women Business Owners honored Paula as a “Woman of Distinction” for her years of community service. The same year, she received the prestigious “Heart of Gold” award from the American Heart Association. She has won numerous awards for medical reporting.

Gary Waddell is Las Vegas' senior television news anchor. He's been anchoring the news at KLAS-TV for more than 20 years.

Gary moved to Las Vegas in 1971 to work for KORK-TV as an anchor and reporter. Prior to that, he had been a reporter for WFLD-TV in Chicago.

Gary is a graduate of Brown Institute of Broadcasting in Minneapolis, and he attended the University of Minnesota. He started in broadcasting in his hometown of Kearney, Nebraska, working as a disc jockey for the local radio station while in college. He covered the turbulent 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago and the federal trial of the Chicago Seven following it.

Gary supports and contributes his time to a number of charitable events and organizations in Southern Nevada, including Lied Discovery Children's Museum, The Nevada Senior Games, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Kiwanis Teacher of the Year Awards and the annual Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Campaign. He is also a member of the board of directors for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and has co-hosted the local Jerry Lewis Labor Day MDA Telethon.
